Responding or confronting demonizing speech from others is risky — and humbling. It reminds me of the reading from the Gospel of Luke about removing the wooden beam from my own eye first before I remove the splinter from my sister/brother’s eye. And yet I can’t ignore demonizing language because poisons the environment and harms others.
