Our country’s gun violence takes the lives of more than 100 people, on average, every single day. We need more than thoughts and prayers from our lawmakers. We need action now, starting with background check legislation.
Background checks save lives but loopholes in the current laws have been exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning more guns sold to people without a background check, and more guns in the hands of people who should not have them. We urge our members and friends to take action and tell the U.S. Senate to support gun safety.
It’s past time for our lawmakers to take action on this crisis and listen to the will of the American public. We need life-saving gun safety legislation now, starting with background checks.
