The Supreme Court today made their decision to uphold the program that protects immigrants who were brought to the country as children and allows them to work, commonly known as DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals).
Taking today as a day of celebration, DACA recipients expressed relief but what could happen next continues to be a concern.
The Faith for DACA coalition is calling on congregations and communities of faith to ring DACA bells for justice. Originally coordinated for 12 noon in your time zone on the day after the Supreme Court Decision on DACA was announced, we respect the numerous Juneteenth celebrations already planned, so we are adjusting our campaign.
We ask you to ring public church bells and hand bells on private porches, or on public streets at Noon in your time zone on MONDAY, June 22nd.
How long? Ring bells for at least 7 minutes, a minute for each 100,000 DACA recipients protected under the program.
We also hope you will record your community and individual bell ringing and post your video on social media tagging #Faith4DACA and @InterfaithImm as well as your State Senators.
