This month we celebrate the 5th anniversary of Laudato Si’ – the environmental encyclical of Pope Francis that calls on the faithful to take up our moral responsibility to defend, nurture, and care for Creation. The encyclical is a powerful call to remember that Creation in all its glory belongs not to us, but to God – and that we are to be merely gardeners of the Creator’s garden.

Here in the United States, unfortunately, the call of Laudato Si’ is not being heard. Recent years have seen our nation abandon its commitment to the Paris Climate Accord, rollback safety standards for the purity of our air and water, weaken regulations for auto emissions and fossil fuel plants, and gut protections for endangered species.

On this special anniversary, can you donate to help Franciscan Action Network in its advocacy for Creation? Take a moment to watch this brief video from Janine Walsh, our communications coordinator, as she explains the need.

Laudato Si’, resonates in a special way with Franciscan hearts. Laudato Si’ – “Praise to you” – are the words of our patron, St, Francis of Assisi, as he prayed over and over again in the poignant Canticle of the Creatures, praising God for Sister Moon, Brother Wind, Sister Water, and Mother Earth.

Thank you for supporting Franciscan Action Network in this anniversary year for Laudato Si’!

Peace and All Good.
