It was eye opening for me to realize my own tendency to demonize viewpoints opposed to mine in this polarized political US environment. I have let emotion and my conviction that I am right blind me to the truth that we are all God’s children worthy of respect. I am encouraged to pray this Lent for all of us including myself to refrain from speech that is rooted in anger and self righteousness.
