As Franciscans, we are called to care for all of God’s wondrous creation. Our brother,  Pope Francis, invites all people of good will to hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor.

On January 18, 2023 FAN hosted a screening of The Letter, a film co-produced by the Laudato Si’ Movement, which tells the story of a journey to Rome of five frontline leaders to discuss the encyclical letter Laudato Si’ with Pope Francis. The leaders represented the voice of the indigenous, the poor, the young, and wildlife. The exclusive dialogue with the Pope, included in the film, offers a revealing insight into the personal history of Pope Francis and stories never seen since he became the Bishop of Rome.

After the film we offered participants the chance to engage with one another in small group discussion about how the film made them feel and what images and phrases struck them while watching. We offered opportunities for advocacy on a national level and invited everyone to host their own screenings in their communities.
