Amicus Briefs Filed in Support of Immigrants and Refugees

FAN is proud to count ourselves among the interfaith organizations involved in the filing of two amicus briefs last week that oppose the "travel ban" executive orders.

The Fourth Circuit brief addressing the “six country ban” and its impact on refugees was filed Wednesday, April 19th, and the Ninth Circuit brief addressing both the six-country ban and the refugee provisions was filed Thursday, April 20th.

FAN Signs Letter Urging Opposition to Border Militarization

FAN is proud to be one of many faith-based organizations to sign-on a letter urging Congress to oppose the ‘border wall’ and other forms of border militarization and any efforts to fund such proposals. The letter highlights the many negative and intersectional impacts of the proposed ‘wall’ and increased border militarization along the U.S./Mexico border. The impacts included in the letter, for example migration, the environment, border communities, indigenous communities, and financial cost, are deeply harmful and far-reaching.

Support FAN's Team of Polar Bear Plungers

St. Bonaventure tells us that to love God, we need to love all that God created. He teaches us that what we choose to do here on this earth will have an effect on it. As part of FAN’s commitment to care for all of creation, we have participated in the Polar Bear Plunge for the last few years. This annual event is organized by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) and helps raise funds for important local grassroots efforts on climate justice.
