St. Bonaventure tells us that to love God, we need to love all that God created. With this in mind, on February 13, 2021 Franciscan Action Network (FAN) again took the #PolarBearChallenge to Keep Winter Cold.

This year’s plunge was a bit different as for the first time ever, it was VIRTUAL and NATIONAL! Supporters across the country chose how they took the plunge.  The FAN members who took the plunge this year are:

  • Executive Director, Steve Schneck in the Atlantic ocean in Bald Head Island, NC
  • Director of Franciscan Solidarity Tables, Nora Pfeiffer in the James River in Richmond, VA
  • Communications Coordinator, Janine Walsh in her backyard in Stratford, CT
  • Intern and Holy Name Province Postulant, Nolin Ainsworth at the Anacostia River in Silver Spring, MD

With support from our friends at Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN), our team raised over $5,200 to draw attention to the critical issue of climate change and raise funds to support the important work of caring for all of God’s wondrous Creation. Thank you to everyone who donated!
