On Thursday, June 17, 2021 the Franciscan Solidarity Table of NYC hosted a webinar about proposed agricultural legislation critical for food justice and environmental sustainability. Several panelists highlighted the importance of five Congressional bills from a faith perspective and their impact on farmers, U.S. agricultural policy, and environmental justice while addressing climate change.

Bringing together the first-hand experience of small to medium scale farmers of color and policy makers, the NYC Franciscan Solidarity Table found a creative way to bring our Franciscan values to the public forum, even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic limitations. We are grateful to them for encouraging all of us to play a role in promoting these national policies that would make a lasting positive impact on the integrity of creation and our brother and sister farmers, on whom we depend for our food and wellbeing.
