In May 2022, a delegation of religious leaders traveled to Kyiv in an emergency intervention seeking to contribute to ending aggression against Ukraine, the bombing of Ukrainian cities, and to pray for a just peace. This trip was planned in response to a call from Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko who urged religious leaders to come and “show their solidarity with the Ukrainian people. To show their compassion, and to join together in a spirit of harmony that my country and the whole world needs. Let us make Kyiv the capital of humanity, spirituality, and peace.”

FAN executive director Michele Dunne, OFS was part of the delegation and wrote blog posts about each day. We invite you to read through them by clicking these links:

Day one: May 23, 2022 9:55pm

Day two: May 24, 2022

Day three: May 25, 2022

Additionally, America Magazine published this article by Michele and fellow delegate Eli McCarthy in their Short Takes section on June 21, 2022.

On June 14, a briefing and Q&A event was held at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land to hear first-hand accounts of what the delegation saw and experienced. We heard from Michele as well as Prof. Eli McCarthy from Georgetown University.
