We are excited for this year’s program as we celebrate the challenging year and a half from which we have emerged. We welcome Jesuit priest, writer, and editor-at-large of America Magazine, Fr. Jim Martin, SJ and director, producer and comedy writer, Jeannie Gaffigan. We will host a “virtual choir contest” where the attendees will have the opportunity to hear from several choirs and vote for their favorite to win a cash prize. It promises to be a fun evening! We hope you will join us.
Fr. James Martin, SJ
James Martin, SJ, is a Jesuit priest, editor at large of America Media, consultor to the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication and author of many books, including three New York Times bestsellers. His most recent book is Learning to Pray: A Guide for Everyone.
One of America’s most beloved spiritual leaders, Fr. Martin has written for many publications, including the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, he is a regular commentator in the national and international media and has appeared on all the major radio and television networks. In 2017, Pope Francis appointed him to be a Consultor for the Vatican’s Secretariat for Communication.
Jeannie Gaffigan
Jeannie Gaffigan is a director, producer and comedy writer. She co-wrote eight comedy specials with her husband Jim Gaffigan, the last six of which received Grammy nominations. She collaborated with Jim on the two New York Times Bestsellers, DAD IS FAT and FOOD A LOVE STORY. Jeannie’s own book, WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU PEARS, debuted on the New York Times Bestsellers List. Most impressively, she grew a tumor on her brain stem roughly the size of pear.
Jeannie presently lives in New York City with her five children, which feels more like 6 children if you include her husband Jim.
We are honored to have an invocation from Cardinal Wilton Gregory from the Archdiocese of Washington, DC as well as a benediction from Bishop Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church.
Pre-Show Conversation
Certain ticket levels qualify for a “back-stage pass” to our pre-show where we are very excited to welcome Fr. Richard Rohr, OFM for a conversation. Fr. Rohr is founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) and academic Dean of the Living School in Albuquerque, NM.
The pre-show will begin at 7pm ET (4pm PT).
You make FAN’s work possible and we are honored and blessed to be walking side-by-side with you in our mission to transform US public policy related to peace making, care for creation, poverty and human rights. We can’t advocate in the spirits of Sts. Francis and Clare in D.C. and across the country without you. Please join us as together we contribute to building the Kingdom of God here on earth.
