Franciscan Action Network Stands with Muslim Brothers and Sisters
A start-up Franciscan Earth Corps group in Amelia Island/Yulee, Florida in Nassau County recently completed their first project with great success. One issue in the community is that there isn't public transportation. Many of the poor in the community have trouble getting to work.
Br. Benedict Ayodi, OFM, Cap. is the Capuchin representative on the Romans VI, the inter-Franciscan JPIC Commission in Rome. Br. Benedict helped to coordinate the Franciscan Delegation in Paris, there to promote a Franciscan presence at COP 21. The group includes representatives from Franciscans International, the worldwide Franciscan family, and all are being hosted by the Franciscan Family in France.
FAN along with our partners at Franciscan International and others in the Franciscan Family in Rome held a webinar November 24th to describe the COP21, why it is important and advise of our Franciscan presence in Paris using a list of some of the activities our delegation will be participating in. Additionally, there are links to various websites for people who can't be in Paris to go to in order to stay involved and collaborate with those at the summit.
2015 was a big year for all of us at the Franciscan Action Network. Here are some highlights of our accomplishments:
FAN staff member, Jason Miller, as part of a delegation of representatives of the Global Catholic Climate Movement (GCCM) delivered to the White House over 20,000 petition signatures from Catholics all over the country asking world leaders at the Paris Climate Summit (COP21) to take bold action on climate change.
