World Day of Peace 2015

Do you recognize your brothers and sisters around the world as made in the image and likeness of God, and therefore having “equal dignity”?

The Vatican has announced the theme and title for the annual World Day of Peace message that Pope Francis will release on January 1st: “Slaves No More, But Brothers and Sisters.

For the 2015 World Day of Peace, Pope Francis challenges all of us to recognize every other person as a brother or sister with God-given dignity. Such recognition, he says, will lead to peace. He urges us to recognize the "equal dignity" of our brothers and sisters who are enslaved and exploited and to work to end human trafficking, trade in migrants and prostitutes, slave labor, and the enslavement of women and children.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has prayers and resources on their website for use in carrying out the Holy Father's challenge. We invite you to view a four-minute video of leaders of key faith traditions making their declaration against human trafficking at the Vatican two weeks ago. At the end of the video, you are given an opportunity to add your name to the declaration.
