Religious Leaders Urge, "No More Deportations"

On July 31st, 112 religious leaders from various faith traditions stood in the sun outside the White House for nearly two hours before being arrested to call on President Obama to stop deporting thousands of immigrants who have been in the United States without legal documents, or expired documents. Special attention was drawn to the deportation of children at the southern border back to the violence in their home countries of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.

The action of civil disobedience was preceded by a prayer service and statements from several of the leaders. As the religious leaders were being arrested, several hundred supporters prayed with them and cheered them on.
