FAN Works to Support Sensible Gun Legislation

As a member of Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence, FAN has recently signed a letter to Congress addressing the unacceptable toll gun violence has taken on our society.  We believe we have a moral obligation to keep guns out of the hands of people who may harm themselves or others. The letter was delivered to Congress on December 9th and included thank you notes for those legislators who supported or cosponsored the Manchin-Toomey bill (Amendment to S. 649) and the King-Thompson bill (H.R.1565). To those who did not support either of these bills, we urged reconsideration to previous positions in hopes that common sense gun legislation will soon be passed.

Additionally, attached to this article, please find the "2013 State Scorecard; Why Gun Laws Matter." This document was prepared by the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence and the Brady Campaign. This user friendly document is a nationwide glance at current gun laws, gives each state a letter grade based on its current gun legislation and charts concrete examples of where successful gun legislation is working.

Both of these give you more information about the issue as well as answering the question, “Will sensible gun legislation work?”
