Franciscans Proclaim: Immigration Reform is Not Dead

Eric Cantor’s defeat and pundits’ assumptions will not deter the spirit of those working for comprehensive immigration reform.

Washington, D.C. — Franciscan Action Network Executive Director Patrick Carolan comments on the assumption that comprehensive immigration reform will not be passed by Congress:

“Despite Rep. Cantor’s primary loss, we believe the pundits have it wrong when they say that comprehensive immigration reform legislation will not be passed by Congress” said Carolan. “The time is now for our elected officials to be courageous; there is still time to pass it before the end of the year. We will continue to work harder than ever with the Fast 4 Families campaign and advocacy groups and allies here in D.C. such as the USCCB Justice for Immigrants campaign, the Interfaith Immigration Coalition and Franciscans nationwide to ensure that this happens.”
