Host a Viewing Party of the Sultan and the Saint

During the past year, FAN has worked to promote The Sultan and the Saint film, which is a powerful depiction of Muslim-Christian encounter as told through the story of St. Francis of Assisi and the Sultan of Egypt. We have been an integral part of many well-attended premiere screenings and related events nationwide, including a two-day summit on building relationships at Georgetown University on which we collaborated with Unity Productions Foundation (UPF), the producers of the film.

We are very excited to announce that the film has been scheduled to be shown this December on Public Broadcasting System (PBS) stations all over the country. This unique moment allows for us to further engage more people and communities in peaceful, inter-religious dialogue. We want you to be a part of it!

Our patience has been rewarded with the announcement from PBS that the film’s airing will be December 26th at 8 pm. There will be a "Check Local Listings" advisory, but most PBS stations will air it at this time. We realize the day after Christmas may not be the best time to host a viewing party, but we suggest recording it and hosting the party at a more convenient date. Also, PBS sometimes airs things multiple times. We encourage you to check your local listing at

The team at UPF has built a registration website for folks to sign up to host a broadcast viewing party. Once you register your party, you will receive a discussion guide and organizer packet. You can even apply to receive a $250 mini grant to help support your viewing party.

We hope to have at least 500 viewing parties registered all over the country. Sign up your party now.

It is our dream that people will come together for these viewing parties in homes, churches, mosques, retreat centers, motherhouses, and other venues to watch the film and engage in conversation to begin building relationships with one another. If you are not able to host your own party, go to the website and search for a viewing party near you.

It is through the collaboration of Christians, Muslims and other faith groups together that peace will be brought forth in our world.
