Franciscan Action Network Applauds Department of Justice Decision

The United States Department of Justice announced today that it will file an emergency stay to lift the injunction by a Texas-based federal judge that temporarily blocks the implementation of two immigration initiatives announced by President Obama in November, 2014.  The judge’s determination was in response to a lawsuit filed by Texas and 26 other states against the United States government.  If the stay is granted, the government could restart executive programs that would protect millions of undocumented immigrants from deportation and provide them with work authorization.

“Franciscan Action Network applauds the Department of Justice for being on the right side of the law and the right side of justice,” says Sister Marie Lucey, Director of Advocacy, “while we continue to work for permanent repair by Congress of the United States’ broken immigration system.”
