Celebrate Arbor Day April 29, 2016

Trees are precious gifts of the Creator, referenced in scripture as images of those who desire to belong to God. Psalm 1:3: "They are like a tree planted near streams of water, that yield its fruit in due season." Jeremiah 17:8: "They are like a tree planted beside the waters, that stretches out is roots to the stream."

Today we are becoming aware of how important a role trees play in human physical, psychological, and spiritual health, and in fighting global warming. Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation states: "Trees are a solution to many of the global issues we face, today, improving air quality and water quality and helping mitigate climate change, deforestation, poverty and hunger."
On Arbor Day, spend a few moments with a special tree; thank the tree and its Creator for this gift of life.

In light of this year's Earth Day theme, we encourage planting of trees and saplings. More information can be found at the Arbor Day Foundation website.
