To celebrate ten years of advocating with the Franciscan family for justice on Capitol Hill and across the country, the Franciscan Action Network staff and board gathered at St. Francis Hall in Washington, D.C. with friends and partners on Thursday November 15th for the annual FAN award benefit. Founders of FAN and original staff were in attendance as the hall filled with Franciscans and Franciscan-hearted individuals who braved wintery weather to commemorate the organization’s founding and to honor several  immigration advocacy organizations.

The program paid tribute to three organizations with whom FAN partners on a regular basis in our advocacy work on immigrant and refugees issues: the Interfaith Immigration Coalition (IIC), NAKASEC, and CASA. These groups work hard every day to advocate with and support our immigrant and refugee sisters and brothers. Their message of welcoming the stranger and caring for those in need aligns perfectly with FAN’s mission, and we were honored to be able to present  each with a token of our appreciation.

Music was provided by The Carolans, relatives of FAN’s executive director, Patrick Carolan, who composed a special song on immigration for the event. Friends were able to reconnect and enjoy the evening with food and fun as many played a game called “Heads or Tails” which resulted in one winner of over $200 in gift cards!

We want to especially thank your very generous sponsors of this years event, including these major donors:
